When I Copy or Paste anything in excel, it takes a second or two to complete the action. same thing when I try to do a find. it takes a while for the find box to come up. sometimes I even get the spinning beach ball for a second.

this happens whether copying from another application and pasting into excel or copying and pasting within the same sheet in excel. it doesn't matter whether it is one cell or a whole sheet.

it is really frustrating. it's hard to tell if it is a mac problem or an excel problem but I can say with certainty that I don't have this problem with other apps. it doesn't happen in NeoOffice.

I have trashed preferences and closed apps and login items and fixed permissions and removed fonts. nothing has worked.

there are other quirky things and slow things in excel mac@2011 but this is a big problem for me and I have seen that it is a problem for others too by googling the problem. but there seem to be no solutions. whaat can I do to get someone to try and replicate the problem or what sort of logs or whattever can I look at to see what is going on??

This problem waste me 3 days and make me crazy. So finally I found root cause for me why copy some rows or some cells very slow that concern with "Styles". In my excel file have a lot styles define by custom but They're not used. I use windows 7 and run program "remove styles" . After finish running, I open file excel and check styles format remain about 10. Restart and log in Mac OS, Open file excel and copy some rows and cells very fast.

Hope Microsoft will fix "copy slow" with file excel contain a lot styles define by customer on next Update SP#@.

I tried deleting fonts as has been described elsewhere, but what ultimately worked was simply deleting the com.microsoft.excel.plist file in the preferences folder.
