Question
Calculate Total Cost of Equipment Use Per job when multiple pieces of equipment are used each week.
I work in a construction company office. We use a variety of heavy equipment on each job. Our crews may work several different jobs with different pieces of equipment each day. We charge our customers for each hour of equipment usage.
Equipment is assigned to an operator on each job. I created a formula to calculate the cost per piece of equipment for each job per week.
Now I need to calculate the total cost per job, for all equipment used that week. As in equipment #
Job # Employee Equipment Hours Rate Cost 523 John W. 13 2 $ 20.00 $ 40.00 518 Barry S. 357 1 $ 27.00 $ 27.00 497 Carson H. 607 3 $ 27.00 $ 81.00 518 Norris B. 203 2 $ 20.00 $ 40.00 523 Jimmy P. 607 2 $ 27.00 $ 54.00 523 Bret W. 306 2 $ 27.00 $ 54.00 523 Frank P. 607 2 $ 27.00 $ 54.00Explanation / Answer
The simplest would be to create a Pivot Table. Drag the Job # to the Row section and Cost to the Value section. This should get you what you want. If you need it Equipment as well, then you may drag Equipment to the Column section.
If you want a formula based solution, then you may use the SUMIF() function. Copy this formula down
=SUMIF($A$2:$A$8,A10,$F$2:$F$10)
A10 has 523, A11 has 518 and so on.
Hope this helps.#!
