Question

When I enter new numbers in a column I get the little error box with a ! that gives me the option to convert text to number. It's annoying to have to do this each time, is there any way I can make new entries in the whole column be stored as numbers instead of text?

In step 3 of the Text to Columns wizard, you select the data type of a column. You can use this functionality to also correct numbers being stored as text. To convert a column of numbers stored as text to just numbers, follow these steps:

Before entering anything in the column, try to right click on the whole column > choose "Format cells" > choose "Number"
