Question
Excel spreadsheet read only on ipad even with Office 365
Hi I just installed excel for ipad and signed up for office 365 - I tried to open a spreadsheet I created on the PC version and it is not allowing me to edit. I created a duplicate and made sure the file names as basic, but no luck.
it says that the file has macros and features that won't work - I don't mind not having macros, but the rest of the features are quite basic - drop down menus, no pivot tables, and simple charts
can anyone help please ?
i have to demo the sheet next week and being able to do it through the ipad would be a great seller !!!
thank you!!!!
Explanation / Answer
Could you confirm whether you have activated within Excel for iPad?
Even if you already have a subscription you still need to activate it inside of Excel to not be in read-only mode the first time around.
If you have activated your app, check if your file contains external data connections, in that case the file will always be in read only mode.
If you believe you have issues with sign in and general account synchronization, you may want to reset Excel for iPad via iPad Settings page, which will allow you to go through the sign in process again:
1) Press Home button twice and use swipe up motion to terminate Excel
2) Select iPad Settings and scroll down to Excel
3) Select Reset Excel and then enable both Clear Document Cache and Delete Login Credentials
4) Re-launch Excel and sign in
