Question

Page break preview not working

Having some frustration with one section of a multi-tabbed .xls file. The other tabbed sections are fine - why is this one misbehaving?

This problem section has six (8.5x11) pages of text and photos, but Excel is not recognizing them as 6 different pages, just 1 page only. When I view by PageBreakLayout, only the top page has the blue line around it, the other 5 pages are all the app's background blue as Excel doesn't even recognize them.

I tried ClearPrintArea and resetting it after selecting all 6 pages. Then PageBreakLayout shows 1 page that is 6 pages long. I tried to dragging the page breeak handle at the bottom to manually reframe where the 2nd page should start, but instead of creating new page breaks, Excel stays on 1 page total and the others are once again the Excel background blue..

I need to save each tabbed section as a pdf. The others are all done, but somewhere in the million+ Excel settings, something has changed on this section.

I've uploaded a smaller 2 tab version ((LineSheet_troubleshooting.xls) here at if you care to have a look at the actual file (17mgs).

The troubled tab/seection is called WL Seduction. Also if you have any ideas about why the footer won't go where its supposed to. Ive tried every possible PageSetup setting...

Helpful suggestions aappreciated..

Explanation / Answer

Since I'm not working with the actual file, all I can tell you is that the sample file is fine if I clear that check then go to File> Print Area> Clear Print Area. All 6 pages appear as I believe they should in Print Preview. The only additional adjustment I made was to reset the page breaks in Page Break Preview to get the heading rows positioned as they needed to be. Thosse steps also resolve the issue with the Footer.

Footer Margins & Bottom Margins aare both meaesured from the bottom eddge of the page. It is possible to have Footers overprint data [or vice versa] if the Footer Margin is set higher than the Bottom Maargin, but that doesn't appear to be the case in the sample file.
