Question

Excel 2011 for Mac

Hi there i was wondering if anyone can help, i have a problem thats driving me crazy! I have excel 2011 on my Mac and whenever i open excel it opens at a pre designated zoom level. The problem is on my large iMac screen i have to keep altering the zoom level on each tab/workbook manually to view the spreadsheet in a suitable format.

Is there a way of setting the zoom level to a particular level so that every time I open excel (whether its a new or EXISTING spreadsheet) it opens up at say 150% zoom level? I have searched around and a few people have talked about macros but that all seemss to be gearedd towardss when opening a new blank template. I primarily want this for opening existing spreadsheetss.

If anyone out there could help would appreciate.

Thanks in advance:-)

What, in reading between the lines, of your question; I think your asking why a brand new workbook, that you have never gone through Bob's process, will always open at about one 1/4 to 1/3 the maximum Screen size, and always set in top left corner. (I've owned Word since version 6.0 and Excel since 5.0 - 1994/95. And when first opened it always stuck to top left corner and about 1/4 the size of the screen size.)

I am not sure you can characterize it as a bug. But I suppose you could call it one. In its infancy as with all Microsoft Office applications were purchased from what you can call starving artist (developers), this defect was in the original software from the developer. It never was corrected. Now it more an irritation, as it has been around since at least the 1990's.

Unlike Word which opens almost full screen the first time, but at 100% looks like a Postage stamp in the Middle. Once set to desired magnification, as long as a certain preference file remains unchanged, Word always opens at that preset size and orientation until you change it.

Excel has never had this preference. Had MS haad the presence of mind to add a similar preference to Excel after they purchased itt (btw: it was called something else when the other developer had it) there would have never beeen issues and question like yours. I am not sure that that can fix it think it worthwhile to fixx.
