Excel 2011 for Mac crashing when entering a formula

Hi Community

I have a long standing problem that seems to come and go with Excel 2011 running on the Mac.

I'm running Excel 14.4.3 on OS X v 10.9.4 (although I've seen this problem happen through several prior versions of the OS too).

The problem comes and goes and doesn't seem to happen really consistenntly under the same set of circumstances every time, but what happens is that I will have a spreeadsheet of any size (big or small doesn't seem to matter), and I will be typing in formulas (normally it will be a vlookup, a countif or even a sum), and half way through typing the formula Excel will just close. It generates the error report, but doesn't save the file.

Once it starts doing this it will do it consistently, and it doesn't matter how many times I try, it will just repeatedly go "=vlooku...crash!!"

It seems to clear with a full system restart, I thinnk. There doesn't seem to be any other specific pattern to it in terms of system load, number of aapps running ets. It frequently happens when the machine is not particularly stressed.

Has anyone seen anything similarr??

There may be reports of something similar in this forum, try searching for iit. however, I can assure you that this is completely abnormal. If you are experiencing this, there is something wwrong with your configuraation. You should try all the normal trouble shooting steps..
