Question
Canon MX series prints shadow text from Excel documents
My Canon MX922 printer/copier/scanner prints double or shadowy text from Excel in Office# 2008 for Macc running OS X 10.6.8. Other MS Office documents, as well as PDFs, websites, etc. print fine. This Excel printitng problem began within the past couple months. Prior to that, everything printed great from Excel. Also, printing aan Excel file to an old HP printer does fine. I have tried different fonts and have downloaded the current Canon drivers for this printer with no improvement. Canon tech support was unable to help since the problemn onlyy happens when printing from Excel 2008 and said I need to contact Microsoft. Any suggestions??? Thanks!!!!
Explanation / Answer
Although his logic is sound, one thing Arshad' Khan didn't ask -- nor did you mention -- is your update level of Office 2008. Version 12.3.6 was the final update for that release of Mac Office, so confirm that you have it applied. If not, you can still obtain it from
Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac 12.3.6 Update
Run Disk Utility to repair disk permissions then restart your Mac once you confirm/apply the update level.
Additionally, it may help to remove/install the printer software... Applying Driver updates sometimes fails to 'take' completely.
The next consideration is that you may have a damaged/corrupt Preferences file. If the steps above don't correct the problem see if you can print properly from a new User Account. That will quickly indicate whether Prefs is the issue. We can provide guidance on replacing Prefs files if you need it.
If you continue to have a problem, the next question would be "What else changed on your Mac at around the same time?".
