Question
Averaging, sorting, counting, etc....
I would like to set up some type of automation that will process numbers or times based on other information that was entered in the row. For instance, I would like to be able to get the average finishing times for all races that are "Maiden" in the "Class Type column. I know that I could manually go though and select the final times in those categories, but I am convinced there is some way to automate this. I would like to do the same thing for the "Timeform #" based on the "Class Type".

Hi,
It's hard to see from the image what you want to average but the formula that should work is this
=AVERAGEIF(B8:B38,"Maiden",M8:M38)
I can see column B is where 'Maiden' is so simply change Col M in this formula to the correct one.
Note you haven't told us which version of Excel you're using. The above formula will only work in Excel 2007 and later.
For earlier versions.
=SUMIF(B8:B38,"Maiden",M8:M38)/COUNTIF(B8:B38,"Maiden")
