Question
As technology continues to advance, organizations are using social media and online platforms to seek and acquire eligible employees. What processes, procedures, and specific online websites are currently being used in your organization to seek and acquire potential employees from the online setting? As a potential employee, discuss the benefits and challenges that accompany social media or LinkedIn when seeking employment? What are drawbacks that an employer faces when using online websites to attract future applicants for positions and how can these drawbacks be reduced?
Explanation / Answer
My Organization currently uses LinkedIn, Glass door and some Online job portals to source applicants.
It begins with Keywords search, followed by email, resume review, shortlist, telephonic interview and a round of personal interview.
The benefits of Online applications are that, you can apply to as many organizations, across the globe sitting in one place.
For Organizations, this means that ONLY key words decide the short listing process and may end up losing good applicants. Too many applications to view and screen and can be a humongous task with chance of error increasing.
This could be decreased by defining a standard Resume template and having a questionnaire in form of application form to allow Only candidates that match your specific requirements and clearly define your requirements in a clear and crisp fashion including geo preference, qualification and experience preferences.
