Excel 2013 - Lookup,Match , Sum the values and enter into the cell based on the lookup criteria

Hi:
I need assistance in accomplishing this task in Excel. Below is the excel sheet. What I am trying to accomplish is if I have expense category on the left "RENT" the amount of 10 and 20 should appear for RENT in the first two lines and 20 for convention on the third line under convention. I tried using INDEX MATCH, but not able to solve it.

Any help would be appreciated...

Thanks!!

RENT CONVENTION DONATION AIR FARE 10 RENT 20 RENT 20 CONVENTION 10 DONATION 35 DONATION 100 AIR FARE 55 AIR FARE

Explanation / Answer

Hi,

in C2 (intersection of column RENT and row RENT) enter formula:

:

=SUMPRODUCT( ($B$2:$B$100=C1)*($A$2:$A$100) ):

then copy this formula to the right until column AIR FARE

Hope this helps and answers your question!
