Subject: Software Upgrade due to discovery of vulnerability.
Hi All,
Recently we have discovered a vulnerability in our system, which requires immediate attention.
This vulnerability can affect the safety of our system; hence, mitigation of this is required immediately.
This vulnerability is caused due to a flaw in the firewall. Whenever a zipped file comes into a network, it fails to scan it for potential viruses inside it. Therefore, if a virus is inside the zipped folder then the firewall fails to detect it and allows the file to enter the network. If that zip file is unzipped, the virus will spread to all the systems and will pollute the network.
The IT team is planning to run a software upgrade on the system to remove this vulnerability from the system. This upgrade may cause system to be down for a certain period.
If everything goes well we will plan to upgrade the system the coming weekend. I request you to backup and plan your activities accordingly. We will be raising an upgrade request at Friday night. Before that if anybody has any objections please drop a mail by Friday evening. If after Friday evening we do not receive any objections we will be staring the upgrade activity.
