I need help with a 200-300 word paragraph answering thosequestions,

think about background colors for text. Do they interfere withthinking? Do they really enhance aworksheet or detract from it? Thinkabout borders. Do they feel too confining or do they help to groupsome idea or related group of data?Think about the position of text headings in a column. Do they lookbetter centered within the cell or better left-aligned? How would their position affect the contents ofthe column they head? For example,would a centered heading look good at the top of a column ofright-aligned numbers? Would aleft-aligned heading look good over a right-aligned column ofnumbers?

Background colors can help to make a worksheet look nicer,rather than simple black text on white background, but colors canalso detract from the viewing experience, for example, try readingyellow text on a white background, it's much more difficult thanwhite on black. You need to have contrast between the two colors tomake it easier to read.
Borders can definitely help to group similar data itemstogether, and makes it easier for the viewer to distinguish whereone group of data is different to another, whereas with the use ofborders, it is much easier to see where one collection of data isseparate from another.
As for alignment, much of this can be personal preference anddepend on what data you are dealing with in the spreadsheet, andthere is no real set rule as to how to go about this. However oneexample I can think of is that numbers, and in particular currencycells, are usually aligned to the right, as this helps order theunits (you have the "ones" column on the far right, then the "tens"column, then the "hundreds" column). Otherwise I guess you wouldnormally use left or center alignment. For the two examples, Ithink that a centered heading could work with right alignednumbers, but a left aligned column with right aligned column couldlook a bit out of place.
