Question

Researchers were interested in whether different types of video game players can accurately rate the difficulty level of a video game. They brought in novice and frequent video game players to play one of two different video games (i.e., a first person shooter and puzzle-based game) and rate the difficulty on a scale of 1 (extremely easy) to 10 (extremely difficult). Based on the mean difficulty ratings for each group below: What type of effects do you see? Type of Player Type of Game First Person Shooter Puzzle-Based Mean of Means Novice 10 5.5 Frequent 4 Mean of Means 4 12 10 8 6 4 0 Novice Frequent Type of Gamer First Person Shooter ·Turn-Based

Explanation / Answer

From the above given data it is very comprehensive analysis that the mean for the Type of Player does not change but the Types of Game has a lot of difference in terms of mean. Also it has in interaction effect as in first player game it was interacting with boats and thus rated high but in puzzle base game it was lone side player and not much of interaction as such thus lower rating.

So we can conclude the answer from options as : A main effect for Type of Game; No main effect for Type of Players; An interaction effect for Type of Game and Type of Player.
