Question
As part of the planning phase for the family garden, you (the project manager) and the sponsor (your spouse) decide that it would be a good idea to identify and analyze threats and opportunities that could impact your project objectives.
The project schedule milestones have been previously provided. There is some flexibility in the project schedule. Because you live in Wisconsin, there is always the risk that spring arrives late so some people will plant crops early in their home greenhouse in case that occurs. Changing crops is another option to deal with the late spring.
There is high flexibility in the budget based on a revised tolerance to financial risks by the family garden sponsor(s) and the budget estimate provided in the WBS dictionary exercise.
There is little or no flexibility in the scope for the family garden. A high-quality, large harvest is the main project objective, along with teaching the children life skills such as responsibility and discipline. Weeds, and pests such as insects, rabbits and squirrels, are always a threat to maximizing harvest, along with inadequate nutrients in the soil, insufficient water, and late spring frost, which can kill plants.
Part 1 (40 points)
There IS a difference between quality and quantity. You and the sponsor are particularly concerned about vegetables that are of 1) low quality and 2) low quantity.
Based on the information provided in the scenario and your own experience and Internet research, prepare two fishbone diagrams. One fishbone diagram that identifies the causes of low quality harvest and the other will be a fishbone diagram that identifies the causes of low quantity harvest.
Include a brief written discussion as part of your root cause analysis that describes each fishbone diagram you create. This part is complete, im not asking you to do this part. For my completed fishbone diagrams go to this link, this site is not allowing me to upload excel files. https://embarkonfun.com/2017/11/13/xcel-template-risk-register/
Part 2 (20 points)
Using the risk register template provided in this lesson and the fishbone diagrams from Part 1, identify five threats to this project and prepare proper risk statements for each threat. You must identify at least 1 threat each that requires the risk response techniques of 1) avoid, 2) transfer, 3) mitigate, and 4) accept the threat. This is the part I need your help with, I dont know where to start. I placed the xcel file here on this link if you can copy and paste, https://embarkonfun.com/2017/11/13/xcel-template-risk-register/ chegg did not allow me to upload xcel documents.
Part 3 (20 points)
Complete the qualitative risk analysis in the risk register by identifying how the risk response technique changes the probability or impact of the threat. Calculate a residual risk.
Using the guidance provided by the sponsor on risk tolerance, pick appropriate strategies to respond to the risks in the event they occur. (I am also looking for help with this)
Explanation / Answer
Project risk – Is an uncertain event or condition that, if it occurs, has a positive or a negative effect on a project objective.
A risk has a cause and, if it occurs, a consequence. Risk identification is an iterative process. (Just like core process). Objective is to decrease the probability and impact of negative events and vice versa.
