Question
CAN ANYONE REWRITE THIS TO NOT BE PLAGARIZED?
The article, “George Orwell…Meet Mark Zuckerberg” is about Mark Zuckerberg which is the co-owner of Facebook. It basically tells how all the information you put on Facebook anyone can see it or use it no matter how private your page is. Unlike the fact that polices have to have a search warrant in order to wire-tap anyone conversation. Well, not on Facebook because any information you put on Facebook will always be on Facebook because of the fact it is a database. Once you check the consent box you are basically giving away your rights with anything you put on Facebook because you are making it public. Not only do Facebook obtains so much information but it also advertise ads. “Your second self on the web is likely a distortion of your offline self. The person whose leaked AOL searches related to extradition might have been writing a mystery, rather than covering up a crime. The woman who was seeking information on AOL about incest might have been trying to help a friend, rather than dealing with her own troubled past.” (Andrews, 2016, p. 332)
I often wondered why things I place in my shopping cart or things I considered buying show up on my Facebook page but come to find out it is because of my Facebook page. Anytime I use my laptop and go on Facebook it is like they search my laptop to see the websites I visited the most and show those ads. The article states, “Facebook will use its new information about me to post the ad on my Facebook page” which is true. They estimated that Facebook earned 1.86 billion dollars in 2010 from displaying ads, just imagine how much they have earned now and it is 2016.
Facebook was compared to the famous Skinner box. It says in the article, “a lab rat is rewarded with a food pellet each time it pushes a lever in the box, a Facebook user is rewarded with “likes” and attention from friends and family each time that person posts more information” (Andrews, 2016, p. 325) which I agree with the comparison. I agree with the comparison because that is really the reason we post things whether it is good or bad.
In conclusion Facebook is somewhat of metadata informant for more than just ourselves but the whole world. The importance to protect yourself is somewhat elusive with Facebook because you feel as though you are keeping everyone in your life up to date. Then never realizing that more than your grandma or mother is looking at it. My question is why do we post major events on Facebook where we know the information can viewed by the world?
Explanation / Answer
Internet and better connectivity has opened new gates for people for interacting with each other and sharing their informations. This way they do share their feeling, shows off their celebrations while you will hardly see any negative feeling shared.
Now based on above information, Facebook uses your history of data to serve you and which in turn shows up with the things you like the most with your heart. They will prompt you, tease you with those advertisements and create a feeling of understanding needs. Sometime as our friends are posting about themselves, people who are shy can easily share their emotions, feelings achievements etc on this platforms which gets them attraction they wanted ever.
Apart from these emotions, jealousy, branding, etc kind of emotions play a great role in avoiding the rule that information posted on it is viewable to all. It all goes for a toss when you feel that you can get attention of people over a matter that is important to you. Once you start getting attention, it reinforces you to post another one and this goes one till it turns bad for anyone.
It is thus advised to be careful what you post on any of the social media platforms.
