THE OBJECTIVE IS TO STUDY THE INFLUENCES OF SURFACE CHARGE OF AN ADSORBENT IN THE ADSORPTION PROCESS.

Procedure: 1. Pour 300ml of water solution with predetermined pH 2. Each group will carry out the experiment under different solution pH 3. Add 1g of cooking oil and 0.1g of sodium lauryl sulfate into the water solution 4. Add 1g of chitosan into the water solution. 5. Allow the adsorption to stir and collect filtrate in 10ml test-tubes for every 10min for the first 30mins 6. Make sure the sample was collected with the solution keep on stiring 7. Collect another two samples at an interval of 30min 8. Let the chitosan settle in the test tube 9. Collect 5ml of the supernatant layer (clear layer) into the pre-weighed 50ml beaker 10. Dry it in the oven, cool down the beaker in the desiccator and weigh it agairn 11. Calculate the concentration of oil after adsorption. Final weight - Initial weigh Concentration of oil =
