The various deciding factors in choosing whether to use a workstation network operating system versus a server network operating system are:
1.Network services to remote clients:This is provided by a server network operating system to the remote network clients.This is not possible in the workstation network OS.
2.Multiple user accessibility:The network operating systems are designed and optimized to support concurrent multi-user environment.It helps many users to use the applications simultaneously. That means that with the network operating system we can have lots of users all concurrently using resources on our server. The maximum number of supported users depends on the network operating system we use, but the number can range up to 1000 users or even more.
This is not possible in the workstation network operating system.As result server network OS is much better than workstation network OS.
3.Higher end hardware:To support multiple users server network Os has a higher end hardware which is not possible in the workstation network OS.
4.In terms of redundancy workstation network is better->r The thing is, if the network operating system goes down, then all the client computers that rely on that server stop working. Everything will go down instantly.Therefore we need redundancy built into the system. On typical workstation operating system, we usually have only one hard drive, or if we have more we usually use those as separate units.
