Patching the system may cause the system to crash, and not patching it can leave it vulnerable to attacks. Please research the issues and concerns with patch management and provide your views on the topic. Please consider this at an enterprise level where the complexity is increased exponentially with the increase in the number of systems.

Patch management is an area of systems management that involves acquiring, testing, and installing multiple patches (code changes) to an administered computer system.

This practice leads to dependency crash or bad practice of inserting code logic into the application. Also some times it brings unncessory tight coupling and descourage indepependent service component.

As per my view system administrators take simple steps to avoid problems, such as performing backups and testing patches on non-critical systems prior to installations.
