Question

evaluate the value of wiki content as an academic resource. To do this, briefly summarise your selected wiki(s) and evaluate the value of its/their content. You may evaluate the value based on your own opinion and experiences but must justify your reasoning. Next, analyse the risk of incorrect user-generated content being present in your selected wiki(s). Based on these evaluations, assess whether the value of a wiki can be great enough to offset the risk of incorrect user-generated content. Explain your reasoning

Explanation / Answer

wiki is very much useful when it comes to academacis wiki is proved to be one of the best help received by students on internet .wiki has given information on almost every other topic ,separately and very systematically it describe about things .it is free encylopedia for all users which is very easy to use .whenever in academic field students or teachers have to collect large information on any topic they can easily get that on wiki . which is correct too . without any flaws . according to me in academics if i want to look for any subject topic knowledge , i can easily find it recently i searched for hazards or risk management in companies . so wiki gave accurate information as that was very general topic unlike serious topic listed below.

Inspite of there there are chances of presence of incorrect user generated content in few wiki .user generated content is which is created by users on wiki .as there are so many editors on wiki so mistake can happen .and if users want to ask for correction they can leave comment in talk box. for example my selected wiki was on medicines ,related to medical purpose ,in short i can give you evidence according to a news article published by dailymail on 26 may 2014,we should not try to diagnose on wikipedia as its 90% medical entries are inaccurate which is confirmed by many experts .
