Many organizations have corporate mission statements, which are designed to provide direction to an organization and act as an enduring statement of purpose. A mission statement explains the organization's reason for being and answers the question, "What business are we in?" "A personal mission statement is a bit different from a company mission statement, but the fundamental principles are the same. Writing a personal mission statement offers the opportunity to establish what's important and perhaps make a decision to stick to it before we even start a career. Or it enables us to chart a new course when we're at a career crossroads. See if there is a common theme throughout these successes and write them down. Identify the contributions you want to make in your life. How do you want to make a difference? This can be applied to your work, your community, your family, your country, or to the world at large. Identify your goals and priorities in life, both short-term and long-term; write them down. On the basis of the previous steps, write a personal mission statement.
