Real world example for single platform data ware house will be a company which is not producing or dealing with Big amount of data, like Qualcomm who creates processors, they don't need a hybrid platform to store and manage data since single platform is enogh to operate.

But companies like facebook, Teradata, Google, Twitter, Instagram whose is completely data-centric needs a hybrid platform to store the data efficiently and manage it better.

This depends on the needs of the company if the company is data-centric as I provided the example above like Facebook, Twitter, and Google then they will be using the Hybrid platform.
