Write a summary of what you learned. Include not only what you learned if you were the person delivering the bad news, but also what you think you would do if you were the one being terminated.
Explanation / Answer
As an employer, i would first explore all possible ways to keep the employee in, like training, Performance improvement program, cultural training etc and when i had to take the final decision, i would first talk to that perosn and listen to them and their side of the story. Then patiently and with respect inform the decision that it is not working well. Will handle my emotion and that of the person very well and encourage them to improve the specific area they are not good at. And the main point is that the decision would have to be a factual business judgment rather than an emotional response. I would also ensure that the employee leaves with a Pride rather than having an disgraceful exit, where i would understand that any disgraceful exist will hamper future hirings. I would also ensure that i have correct paper works of the firin employee and no mistakes, of legal sorts are done.
As an employee, i would accept the decision and gracefully exit with an underatsnding that it was not working out anymore but with the understanding that this is not the end of the road and i have better oppurtunities awaiting for me. Would be brave and take the next step forward from there and would refrain from bad mouthing about this incident any further.
