Explanation / Answer
Be able to discuss how poor interaction design can impact the usability of a product ?
Ans) for example let us take bad elevator button design which is poor interaction design that can impact the usability of a product
Explain how HCI and interaction design are multidisciplinary; what are the advantages and disadvantages of multidisciplinary teams?
Ans)
1. Many people from different backgrounds involved
2.Different perspectives and ways of seeing and talking about things
advantages:
1. the advantage is that it has more ideas and designs generated
Disadvantages:
1. the only disadvantage is that it is difficult to communicate and progress forward the designs being created
Be able to list and explain the importance of Usability Goals; how are these different from User Experience goals?
Ans)
The list and the importance of Usability Goals
1.Effective to use
2.Efficient to use
3.Safe to use
4.Have good utility
5.Easy to learn
The usability goals different from user experience goals are:
1. user experience goals more quality of life or how the user "feels" (satisfying, helpful, pleasurable, engaging) (dont want it to be boring, frustrating, etc)
2. Easy to remember how to use.
What does accessibility mean? How do these considerations also help those without these challenges?
Ans) Degree to which a product is usable and accessible by as many people as possible
the considerations of accessibility also help those without these challenges are for example talk to text
Explain design principles of visibility, feedback, constraints, consistency, affordance?
Ans)
visibility- how easy it is to figure out how to use something just by looking at it
feedback- Sending information back to the user about what has been done
constraints- Restricting the possible actions that can be performed
consistency- Design interfaces to have similar operations and use similar elements for similar tasks
affordance- to give a clue; Refers to an attribute of an object that allows people to know how to use it
