3. Experts say that teams are a means, not an end. What do you think they mean? What do you think happens in a company that creates teams just for the sake of having teams because it’s a fad or because it sounds good? How can this pitfall be avoided?

The objectives and aims of an organization are to achieve the desired business objectives, these business objectives could be achieved when people work together as a team and not individuals and hence teams are a means to achieve the business objectives and are not an end. A manager should put his focus on achieving the desired business goals rather than building teams just for the sake of it. Companies who create teams without a specific reason often fail to achieve the business goals. This pit fall can be avoided when teams are made in sync and in alignment with the business goals and a clear direction is given to those teams.
