Comments made by Chip Wilson, The founder of the organization went viral resulting in drastic loss of Public relation due to which business was affected huge and the company suffered. Each and every business organization should understand that without the customers the brand is nothing which Chip Wilson may have forgotten or did not care about while making statements about the issue that was being experienced by the customers. Lululemon a Canada based organization designs and manufactures athletic apparel for both men and women, the style and quality of the items are praised but it has a overprice tag to its name but because of the brand value the organization is unique and one of its kind.
In 2013 Lululemon was forced to recall a percentage of the Black Yoga pants it manufactured because there were speculations that the fabric used was too sheer and women felt uncomfortable because it had a see through feeling. It was claimed by many customers that while returning the product in the store they were told to wear the product and need to bend over so that the store attendants can determine the level of see through the product is and due to this heinous act there was a lot of criticism in the international market to add Chip Wilson, the founder chairman and also the face of Lululemon in a press statement said that the product is not for everyone because there are some women whose bodies are not fit for the pants. Public relation was almost over and the company's stock price went down to minimum because of the activity and again to add a week later Chip Wilson recorded an apology video in which he states that he is apologizing to his employees and not the customers which created a stir resulting in lowering of stock price for the third time and finally the resignation of Chip Wilson.
It can be concluded that building a strong and healthy relation takes a lot of time but ruining it takes seconds which we observe here because the company which was built by Chip Wilson, reached its peak and was about to perish just because of a lame comment by the CEO. In Business consumers or customers had to be prioritized over everything and public relation should be maintained at a very healthy condition or else success is a dream the organization may experience breakdown.
