Goals can be defined as some specific and targeted outcome which can be achieved within some time horizon. It may be of two type’s short term goal or a long term goal on the basis of time frame. SMART is a framework which might be utilized in goal setting . SMART means specific goals, measurable goals, Achievable goals, Realistic goals and timely completion of the goals. Now we shall be discuss the key similarities between setting goals for ourselves and for other person;

1)Goals must be clearly defined :

It is very important to define the goals which can be easily understood by other person also.

For example: To achieve zero level of defect till 2022 at the production system will be a long term goal for a production manger. It will be easily understood by other person as they are required to errorless production process.

2)It must fulfil the each criterion told in SMART framework.

For example:

Setting theoretical goals will not be measurable and it will nowhere of the use for the organization.

3)Goals must be set so that one can impart his skills, knowledge and abilities.

While setting goals for ourselves and other, we should focus on our capabilities. If, we shall go beyond our core competencies then we cannot achieve the set goals. So, we must be careful while setting it.

4) It must enhance our motivation level: If, a goal will not motivate us then it will be difficult to achieve that.

5)It brings some structural change for the organization and as well as for our own individual goals:

If, we set a goals which reflect some sort of change for us along with the organizational outcomes then it will be categorized as an impactful goals.
