Question 6 10 pts A combination lock has a password that is three numbers between 0 and 99, Assuming the same number cant be used more than once in a password, how many potential passwords are there? O 1001/3 100!/97 D Question 7 10 pts A coin is flipped six times, producing either heads or tails. How many possible outcomes contain two or fewer heads? D Question 8 10 pts How many bit strings of length 10 contain an equal number of Os and 1s? ? 10t/S! 210 DQuestion 9 10 pts How many ways are there to select five countries in the United Nations to serve on a council if two are selected from a block of 20 countries, and four are selected from a block of 40 countries? O 202 2018211*40364! O20u(12+40113641) Question 10 10 pts How many bit strings of length 10 contain exactly four 1s? O 1044! 10u64 O 26 O 1046

Explanation / Answer

1. Since there are 3 numbers ,each number can be between 0 to 99 and all the 3 numbers must be different

So, no. of ways for 1st number is 100. 2nd number is 99 and 3rd number is 98

Total ways = 100*99*98 = 100!/97! (C)

2. We need no. of outcomes with fewer than 2 heads

no. of outcomes with 0 heads = 1
no. of outcomes with 1 head = 6C1 = 6
no. of outcomes with 2 heads = 6C2 = 15

So, total is 22. (C)

3. Bitstring of length 10. No. of bitstrings with 50's is 10C5 (C)

4. No. of ways of selecting 2 from 20 is 20!/(18!2!). No. of ways of selecting 4 from 40 is 40!/(4!36!)
Ans is C

5. No. of bitstrings contains 41's in a 10 bit string is 10C4 = 10!/(6!4!)
