Question
(a) The family viewing experience differ largely when television was developed and it is constantly growing when there is technology advancement from CRT to LCD, now LED by DVD/Blue Ray experience and most recently Smart TV. As the technology improves, family expectations parallelly grew and expectations like rich visualization experience, surround sounds, home theatre, 5 in 1 speakers etc., that are both video and audio level improvisation.
(b) Based on my experience, I would say these effects had the negative impact in many families. Especially children getting addicted to smart TV's and getting to know how to operate internet in televisions, utilization of youtube videos etc., is not a healthy sign. Here, more than the family bonding and each of them spending quality time with each other, they end up sticking to television which is not strengthening the healthy family living.
(c) Television viewing has affected my own family experience in both positive and negative ways. Positive ways are learning what is going on in the society, getting to know the news around us (local, national and international), entertainment, fun, music, movies etc., Negative ways are addiction, eyesight problems, mental problems due to abnormal sound effects due to prolonged time, visual implications, psychological impact.
