The five services provided by PGP's are:-
1.Authentication
2.Confidentiality
3.Compression
4.E-mail compatibility
5.Segmentation
Out of five services authentication service is most important, it doesn't matter how the encryption is done, which compression algorithm is used, unless i can not confirm the authentic source of email.
Why does PGP generate a signature before adding compression?
Answer :- It is generally preferred to sign an uncompressed message first so that one can store only the uncompressed message together with the signature for future verification. If you signed a compressed document, then it would be necessary either to store a compressed version of the message for later verification or to re-compress the message when verification is required.
What is your personal opinion about PGP?
Answer :- PGP encryption is like placing your letter inside an envelope, safe from prying eyes, though an envelope with the strength of a safe. I believe PGP is a great way to protect your sensitive info when communicating, passing or sending that information to others. If you sending sensitive data that may have PII (Personally Identifiable Information), financial, or medical information, you should protect that information in your email or messaging communications.
How would you implement PGP in your own company or at home?
Answer :- The documentation and souce code for PGP is easily available, so with the help ofthat you
can implement your own PGP. moreover the package is independent of the operating system and
the processor. The basic steps are:-
Setup a PGP key server that all mail clients use
Create a PGP for keymaster@mycompany.com
All users install and trust the keymaster's key
All users create a key, which is then signed by the keymaster, and installed in the key server.
