Discussion: Look about on the Web, and see what information you can find about the explosion of file types. Some commentators suggest that much of the details about file types will disappear from the normal users’ point of view, as icons and apps replace our way of thinking about how we name and use the pieces of our systems. Does this make sense? Why, what is the rationale?

After exploring them, discuss what surprised you the most about files and file types? What do you think the future might hold, from a file type perspective?

True that the file types details are being displayed as the icons because of which the user would not learn more about the details of the file type, yet would concentrate more on the work specified to them.

There are several types of file extensions like the AVI, MOK, DOCX, PTX, JPEG, JPG etc.

All of these would help to fetch the file and data to place in the specified file format.

In the near future also the file type, description, format, programs would not be listed but the file to which the details are to be posted/edited would be created with the file name.

This would also help the user to look for icons that can conserve the space.
