Question

Can someone help me with this assignment??? I am working on course project which I have to create an Android Game Application... The game I decided to develop is "Balloon Poping". This is very common app game where you just pop look a like balloons.

So my first assignment is as follows::

Ready for the design phase of your Android based mobile game?

Now begins the high level design of your applications. This gives you a scheme of how the game will process in terms of a flowchart. It also provides a rough idea of the modules that you will have to contribute in the SDK.

You should also have a detailed idea of how you want your screens to look, so there should be some description of the visual layout documented.

In terms of new modules for your game, remember, this is an object-oriented application, so designing for code reuse is good practice.

Once you have completed your design, copy those diagrams into a Word document.
You should allow one page for each diagram, and half a page for screen layout descriptions.

I would greatly appreciate....I don't know how to approach this project...

Explanation / Answer

The steps that I use for initial design (getting to a class diagram), are:

Requirements gathering. Talk to the client and factor out the use cases to define what functionality the software should have.

Compose a narrative of the individual use cases.

Go through the narrative and highlight nouns (person, place, thing), as candidate classes and verbs (actions), as methods / behaviors.

Discard duplicate nouns and factor out common functionality.

Create a class diagram. If you're a Java developer, NetBeans 6.7 from Sun has a UML module that allows for diagramming as well as round-trip engineering and it's FREE. Eclipse (an open source Java IDE), also has a modeling framework, but I have no experience with it. You may also want to try out ArgoUML, an open source tool.

Apply OOD principles to organize your classes (factor out common functionality, build hierarchies, etc.)
