As future leaders, it is important to understand these different functions and the manner in which they support the daily functions of all managers in the organization. Some of the HR functions will be done solely by HR (for example benefits and compensation) while other functions of HR may be joint efforts with managers in the company (for example performance appraisals are typically done by your supervisor or manager, but your supervisor or manager probably has been trained through HR on how to execute an effective performance appraisal and provided with a template to use.) Take some of the functions in HR and discuss whether you think that function would be done solely by HR or in conjunction with managers throughout the organization. Give examples to support your thoughts.

Disciplining the employee:

Supervisor and HR both have to work on discipline the employee working in company since HR is always won’t be available to supervise them or cannot constantly keep eye on them. Managers and supervisor will be needed to keep them in discipline and do not let them behave improperly.

Keep engagement of employee:

The supervisors and line manager are responsible with HR department to keep them working and engage them in work constantly. They collectively create the environment that employee doesn’t get distracted and focuses on achieving the desired result in company and make better use of time in optimum manner. As Disengagement of employee will ultimately cost supervisor than line managers and HR department since result will be different with less engagement of employee.

When using performance pay system:

When company has used the performance related pay the need of supervisor and their line manager would be essential since HR department would know about the performance of employee by only communicating with supervisor and Managers of that department. Manager and supervisors will rate the performance of employee and based on that they will give compensation to employee.
