Question

Have you ever felt like your computer wasn't moving as fast as it should? Worried about a virus or malware? Do you know how much RAM you have? How big is your hard drive? Turn to page 149 in your text and do the "What's going on in there?" lab. It seems like an easy exercise but like the instructions say you might need to do some Googling to figure out how to do everything asked in the lab. Create a Word document (double spaced) with the results of each step. Then add a 200-250 word paragraph about the process of finding the information required.

Explanation / Answer

To know about any Computer we need to go to the SYSTEM PROPERTIES of the computer.

To view the system properties we can do it as follows.

1. On the desktop go to My Computer icon and right click it.

2. Now click on properties.

A window will be opened with basic information of the system in which the details like windows edition, processor, RAM, system type, computer name etc. are available.

We can also open this window in the below way.

1. Open My Computer.

2. Click on System Properties available in the horizontal menu in the page.

To know about the hard drive, we just need to click on My Computer.

A window opens with C Drive, D Drive etc with all the drives available with the computer.

We can know the information about each drive by selecting it.

The total space available with all the Hard Disk Drives in the system gives the size of the hard drive.
