Question
Take a closer look at the peer and co-worker relationships in your organization. If you do not have enough information to draw from in your current organization, you may extract examples from another work or organizational experience (job, a class, fraternity/sorority, church, etc.).
1. Think about the “special peer”* relationships you have within your organization or have had in a previous organization or work experience. According to the description of special peer* (high levels of emotional support, trust, self-disclosure, and intimacy), give detailed examples of why this relationship falls in the special peer* category.
2. Look carefully at the four factors that allow organizational peer relationships to shift into something more personal: proxemics, similarity, relational balance, and personal needs. Taking the same special peer* relationship you mentioned in the first category, briefly discuss all four elements and how each may or may not have helped you move the relationship from organizational peer to special peer*.
Explanation / Answer
1)
In our Current Organization, i would consider Martin as my special peer as he is my coworkers with whom i share a very very high level of emotional support, who gives me and helps me in my career related feedback, whom i trust so much and more than that he has become by best friend at work place.
2)
Martin is a well-wisher as well with whom i share my personal space (which is the space within intimate distance and personal distance) as well as social space (which is the space within social distance and out of personal distance). He helps, advices and sometimes teaches me to balance my relations with family, friends work and co-workers. We share common interest and sometime passions and have lots of similarities in terms of characters, personality, likes, behavior and maturity, yet he helps me when am in need. Whenever i need something, i first person i think is Martin and without saying he comes to me and offer that help which i need. I do not understand how he knows that i need something, but he is always there for me at the workplace, be it a help in the documentation, or a help in presentation or a emotional support etc.
