Microsoft office is whole package. If we discuss a single application which have confusing features then we came to know that some features need to upgrade within Ms Office. As we talk about MS Officer then we know that users were start using the ribbon interface in Officer 2007 version. So this is a upgrade to make the interface user friendly. Before this upgrade users are bound to select option from menu bar. But after the upgrade the ribbon view introduced and it is easy to use the options that are frequently used. And this view is continued in Office 2010. So it make the office some level of user friendly.

Now another example of a confusing feature that Word 2007 uses the Office Icon in the place of the File menu. However, that proved confusing to a generation of users already very used to the File menu. So, the File Menu is back for Word 2010. These are the some confusion made in newer versions and people who using the previous version efficiently, they are confused.

Now it has the quick access toolbar and easy customization so that user can customize according to him. It has now improved pasting options.

As there are least confusing points in MS Word but upgrade are needed. When user is habitual for as option on the toolbar then it is not good to place the options another place in the toolbar this creates the confusion. So after the analysis we can say that if we are in designer team of Microsoft office then we simply make all options easily accessible and do not change the icon and place of the options.

So we are discussed here about the MS Word and it's upgrade. The new functionality and confusion after upgrade are also mentioned and some points of confusion in MS word and suggestions also made.
