Material Requirement Planning is a conventional method of production and lays emphasis on carrying the inventory. On the other hand, Just In Time production technology is a recently introduced concept in the automotive industry to eliminate the use of carrying large inventory.
Comparison between Materials Requirement Planning and Just In Time
Although theoretically, Just in Time technology seems quite interseting as it saves much of inventory carrying costs and there is no chance of obsolescence. But practically it is quite challenging tomaintain zero inventory and purely work on relationship with supplier basis. It requires strong relationship with the supplier in order tocarry out Just in Time production technology.
