Question
Select all the statements below which are TRUE: Undefined transitions in a nfa are specified using lambda - transitions. Let sigma = {a, b, c}, L_1 = {a, ba}, L_2 = {c, bcc, ab, bb}, and L_3 = {a, bb, cbbc}. Then |2^L_3| lessthanorequalto |L_1L_2| Let w be a string and M be a nfa. If there exists a sequence of moves for w starting from q_0 that put M in a final state, then w is accepted. A grammar G is regular if it is either right-linear or right-linear. Any dfa is a nfa. A dfa can have lambda - transitions.Explanation / Answer
1 , 3 , 4 , 5 are TRUE
1) In NFA , state qi transit to state qj (qi ---> qj) by taking input from input symbols.
If a transaction of certain input symbol is not known then it is Undefined Transitiion.
These undefined Transitions are shown by using epsilon( Lambda here).
3) For a given input string w the last input symbol is consumed, the NFA accepts if and only if there is some set of transitions/set of moves that will take it to an accepting state.
4) A grammar is regular if it is either right-linear or left-linear.Right linear and left linear grammars are the Context Free Grammars.
5) In NFA, for each state and alphabet, the transition function has one or more state.
In DFA , for each state and alphabet, the transition function has exactly one state.
Hence DFA is special case of NFA.
Every formal language that can be recognized by a DFA can be recognized by an NFA.
