Suppose you do a preliminary research on a robot system design. This robot is similar to iRobot Roomba. On the top of the robot there are a series of buttons used for basic buttons will send the robot out to clean. On the bottom are wheels designed to navigate carpet, on the bottom side are bristles in order to sweep the floors sides are sensors that can search for walls, objects that would obstruct its path, and virtual walls set up by the user. When it is finished cleaning or the battery runs low it will navigate back to its charging station to rechargeExplanation / Answer
The main sensor behind the answer to solve the problem as irobot roomba solves is INFRARED sensors.
It uses infrared sensors mainly to navigate around the area in which it is cleaning. It sends infrared signals that come back after colliding through any obstacle to the reciever on the bumper of roomba. It then analyses how much space it has infront of it in whinch it can move to clean.
It has 4 infrared sensors located at the front underside for the easy and quick detection of steps , Onnce steps are detected it changes its path by moving to some another direction that is free of obstacle .
Then next are the sensors that are located at the side of roomba which continuousy detect for wall which enables roomba to clean the edges of the wall without colliding with the wall . These are infrared sensors which are constantly sensing for walls
For visual localization it uses camera to create visual landmark for identifying the places ots been or it has to go to .Roomba learns from experience by having multiplle visual landmarks it works more effeciently as it knows where to turn from without coliding through any obstacle by just matching the surrounding to its visual landmark it has created earlier.
