1. Draw a hierarchy to represent types of Food.

a) Put Food at the root of the hierarchy, with Prepared and Basic branching from it.

b) From Prepared, branch to a number of different cuisines by nationality (Chinese and American, for example) and derive subtypes from those styles (such as Szechwan and Mandarin from Chinese, and Cajun and Amish from American).

c) From Basic, branch the four basic food groups you probably learned about in elementary school, and then derive subgroups from each of these groups.

2. Draw a hierarchy to represent types of electronic equipment.

a) Put electronic equipment at the root of the hierarchy, with business and entertainment branching from it.

b) Business includes such things as cash registers, copiers, etc.

c) Entertainment includes such things as television, video games, and music systems.

d) How do you classify things that could belong to both groups, like telephones and computers?
