Question

A network administrator is attempting to troubleshoot a network issue associated with a computer that was manually configured recently. The administrator issued the command and saw the following network configuration displayed on the computer: IP address: 192.168.1.210 Subnet mask: 255.255.255.128 Gateway address: 192.168.1.126 DNS address: 192.168.1.254 When the computer is attempting to connect to a server with IP address of 193.1861.201 with mask of 255.255.255.0, the connection was not established. What command syntax should the network administrator use to investigate the path the packet took to reach the server? What has prevented the establishment of the connection? What action must be taken to resolve the connection problem?

Explanation / Answer

traceroute can be used to trace the route of the packet took on its way to the server

the mask is
11111111 11111111 11111111 10000000
and host ip is
11000000 10101000 00000001 11010010
So the network adderess is
11000000 10101000 00000001 10000000 or 192.168.1.128

but the gateway address is 192.168.1.126 which does not belong to the network, so the connection was denied

Contacting network administrator or type in ifconfig to see all settings and network statistics
