In order for a leader to successfully shape the culture of an organization, they must foster a sense of belonging in their people. Stroope suggests that "The ability to foster a sense of belonging can actually determine whether a team survives or not "(2011). He goes on to say "Feelings of belonging are not simply a matter of emotional frills attached to otherwise robust organizational behavior. On the contrary, they are a determining factor in whether people are active members or even members of the team at all" (Stroope, 2011).

     In conclusion, leaders play a vital role in shaping the culture of their organization which is turn plays a vital role in the success and health of the organization and the soul of its people. Bolman and Deal believe that "peak performance emerges as a team discovers its soul" (2017, p. 277). And what organization doesn't crave peak performance at the heart and soul of its organization's culture?

Fostering the sense of belongingness is one of the most important task of a leader. Used properly it can make people come together and work for a common cause which can help in achieveing the goal faster. The more people relate to the mission, intention, culture or values of an organization the more they are commited to the goals.
