The Deep Web and the Dark Web are endlessly fascinating to many people. It is used as a plot device in many crime-solver TV shows and movies. The Dark Web sounds so nefarious. As you have found out from the two videos you watched “How the mysterious dark net is going mainstream,” in Learning Plan 4 and “The Dark Side of the Web,” in this learning plan the Dark side of the Internet isn’t all bad. After reviewing these videos, analyze and discuss how you can get to it, list the benefits of surfing the dark web, and then list the dangers of surfing it. Explain the ethical aspects in using the Dark Web. Explain how you think it fits in with the ethical issues covered in Chapter 3 and Chapter 5. The dark web and the deep web are different concepts. Deep web referring to any part of the web that is omitted in the search engine results but isn’t associated with being inherently bad material. Whereas dark web is considered a nefarious place which can only be accessed through the use of specific software like Tor browser where you can get services in exchange of a virtually untraceable currency.
The dark web has its advantages when it comes to easy influx of information, ideas and agendas which might be illegal by law or to find a group of people who hold the same values as you for a point of matter.
It is also useful for accessing services which are not possible through the traditional medium which may be good or bad in nature. No matter its benefits the dark web is a dangerous place to be in. It consists of groups of criminals which use the dark web to sell their services, drugs, promote their propaganda and showcase their abusive powers.
Ethics is a field of psychology that is a bit sketchy when it comes to dark web. It is a necessary evil. It houses people that represents both good and bad about our society. But, using the dark web is unethical especially with a end justifies the means philosophy that some people have nowadays. They do not think of the moral consequences they have to face later or the impact it might have on their life. It holds the deepest and darkest secrets of the web, which justifies its classification. There is a reason some information is in the dark web and not surfacing on your everyday website.
