Answer:- To deal with the first set of issues the research design that I would suggest would be exploratory design since Nick stated that he did not know how customers felt about certain issues because most of the information at hand is from industrial reports and opinions of individuals in the industry. Therefore, the exploratory design would be best since a significant amount of information is unknown. In addition, it is important to find more background information, define terms, and clarify how consumers feel about certain issues and how important these issues are to them.  

Answer:- The research design I would suggest to determine all of the following would be descriptive research, which would provide answers to questions of who, what, where, when, and how. It is also desirable to use because the findings if the sample is representative, can predict some variable of interest and projected on to a larger population.

Answer:- The design I would suggest for Nick Thomas’s last questions would be casual research because it can help understand a phenomenon in terms of conditional statements of the form “If x, then y.” This would be best because Nick is wondering if some of the models increase in mpg the would the consumer want to buy these models and by how much mpg must these models be increased to. Therefore, his questions would be considered and “if-then statement.” This questions being: if we increase mpg, then how much will need to increase in order to meet consumer needs and have them buy models instead of the better selling foreign models.
