The answer to the questions are as follows :-

A) The reason customers feel that they have a physical machine to themselves is the fact that they do in fact have a set space in a machine system that provides the sense of physicality while in fact they (the provider of cloud) have sold them a virtual space in their system that can be used just like any other physical storage that we see. There is virtually no difference between the two and therefore augments the sense to perceive the space as actual physical entity.

B) The reason cloud based apps are hard to predict in terms of performance because of the fact that they run on different types of machine. Each architecture is different and requires different implementation of the same technology. Therefore, due to the inherent difference systems have amongst themselves, we can say that it would be difficult to measure the performance of the apps in this case.
