Question

Hello everyone

I am studying encryption and decryption techniques. and so far, so good. but I have a side question

so, after we decrypt a message in any technique and have the original text. how we will know the original spaces that make the sentence readable meaningful. for example:

let’s assume that after we decrypt a message we have this plaintext (HE LL OW OR LD) which is means (hello world). now assume we don’t have the (hello world) or we don’t know it. how we will find it by using only the decrypted message?

i hope i explained as much as i can, and let me know if you need any explanation

Explanation / Answer

If you have any problem with the answer just let me know in the comments.

Decrypted message is without spaces and to make sense of the words is not that difficult. We start by breaking the sentence into words and making meaningful words.

For example:

DAVIDISDRIVINGAVAN.

so we start from first letter and continue till we have a meaningful word. Here we have D A V I D - DAVID, then we have “IS” then “DRIVING” and “A” and lastly “VAN”.

So the sentence is

David is driving a van.

If you still have difficulty doing it, you can try separating the most commonly used words in English language and then making sense of the rest of the sentence.

The most commonly used words are :

This, that, there, here, where, was, why, is, am, the, by, what, in etc.

For example :

THISENCRYPTIONWASUSEDBYCAESAR.

now separate the words.

THIS ENCRYPTION WAS USED BY CAESAR.

here we separated just this, was, by, and we got the whole sentence.
