Question

A manufacturing firm produces four types of automobile parts. Each is first fabricated and then finished. The required worker hours and profit for each part are The capacities of the fabrication and finishing shops over the next month are 640 and 960 hours, respectively. Formulate this as a linear programming problem. Develop an M-file without the use of MATLAB built-in functions to determine how many of each part should be produced in order to maximize profit. Read MATLAB help files and find a suitable built-in function to solve the problem described in (b), and compare results with (b).

Explanation / Answer

For Calucation Table for maximum profits:

Fabrication Units produced =PRODUCT(C9*B9/F2)

Finish Units Produced = =PRODUCT(C10*B10/F3)

And I am rounding the fraction for the units:

Fabrication =ROUNDUP(D9,0)

Finish = =ROUNDUP(D10,0)

Total units = =SUM(E9+E10)

Profit Money= =PRODUCT(E11*F4)

Then you will get profit = 23878600

Case 1: Fabrication hours = 680 (if 40 hours Extra per month) Finish hours = 960 Then you will get profit= 23374000 Case 2: Fabrication hours = 640 Finish hours = 1000( 960+40 Extra per month)

Then you will get profit = 23878600
