1. The major consideration I would think before opposing or supporting the proposed legislations would be as follows :
a) I would try to know the root causes behind why such legislations is being rolled out , for example- if tobacco is effecting an individual's health , then I would like to if the statistics have grown over time or not or any other rational reason for a selective ban.
b) I would equally look into the facts on why the same has not been banned in grocery stores , as it could still make people consume it.
After analysing these stats and arguments, I may be able to take a stand in this regard.
2. The fact that whether I do or donot smoke shall not influnce the decsion , as I believe in maximum good for the maximum people and hence , any decision taken in this regard should be by and large for the welfare of people and not just for an individual.
3. The ethical issue at play here could be in context to the following
a) Groceries are areas more flocked by people as compared to lounges. So targeting only bars and lounges could be wrong.
b) Bars are accessed by people who are adults and comparatively richer unlike groceries where minors and poor may end up becoming a source to supply tobacco underground.
