In the news, you frequently hear that XYZ Inc. Is vulnerable to cyber-attacks. XYZ Inc. supplies power to your manufacturing company where regular power supply is very critical. However, the XYZ Inc. claims that it has a very good consulting service for securing its networked system where cyber-defense system is scanning for any security attacks with five nines (i.e., 99.999%) uptime for a year. This information could be applicable for you to plan for an alternative power supply (solar, battery or wind energy, etc.) as you may have power outage because of cyber-attacks. Based on the given information, for how long XYZ Inc. will be vulnerable or will be running without any cyber defense system? If you have to purchase backup power supply for any outages, what should be the minimum time that alternative power supply should last?

Part a) : For how long XYZ Inc. will be vulnerable or will be running without any cyber defense system ?

As it has been broadcasted in the news that XYZ Inc. is vulnerable to cyber attacks i.e. it has been shown in the News itself. This depicts a great threat for the XYZ Inc. as there is maximum probaility that the cyber criminals also saw this news.

Now XYZ Inc. will have more chances to face cyber-attacks like never before. The consultancy services can only consult for the attacks and their pre conditions, but cannot stop the attacks.

Therefore, the XYZ Inc. will be very vulnerable for the cyber attacks and it would take as much time until they completely establish a Cyber defense system.

Part b) : The minimum time for alternative power supply should last should be :

According to the information, in my company the need of power supply is very critical. Therefore the alternative backup power supply should last until and unless XYZ Inc. sucessfully establishes a Cyber defense system and their whole system is fully secure & fully opeerational.

Or

If the XYZ Inc. somehow fails in doing so, then the backup supply should last until the Company finds a new power supplier.
