Summary-
Increasing environmental problems have become a major area of concern, making humans to focus more on environmentally responsible production and consumption with their own sustainable and healthy life.
A survey was conducted on about 300 people to understand Green consumers’ attitude towards green products, buying intention and readiness to buy, and report has tried to assess consumers’ awareness of green products and their benefits to the environment. As studies conducted previously shows presence of a gap in production and consumption of the green products, this study determines the various reasons behind the inconsistent behaviour of green consumers (of the sample population) and identified major factors affecting the consumers’ green purchase decision making process.

The present study finds some useful implications for public policy too. Findings reveal that environmental concerns and values are the prime factors that motivate a consumer to investigate about green products and give them a reason to buy green products.
Also, since Consumers, generally, remain sceptical of environmental benefits claimed by manufacturers of green products and find it difficult to identify/ differentiate green products from regular products and finally unable to decide where to buy them or buy which one, Policy makers can develop & further extend this tendency through environmental education. Thus, environmental education needs to be imparted to Indian consumers
